I have been a foster carer with GAP for several years and just recently celebrated having my 10th foster, which is a milestone I’m so proud of. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, each dog is unique and works their way not only into your home, but your heart as well.

It’s bittersweet giving them back after the foster period ends - but seeing them go on to get adopted and live their best life is incredible and I feel privileged to have played a part. Fostering also allowed me to adopt my own greyhound ‘Daisy’. I still remember nervously calling up GAP and asking, “Can I keep her?” and getting so much support from the team, she was the best Christmas gift ever. Overall, fostering has been a life changing experience - the photo is me getting ready to take my first foster “Minnie” home, a sweet senior lady who is single handedly responsible for the foster journey I’m on.

If you look at her trotting away from you, her markings almost look like Bambi! We think she may suit living with children 5 and over and another male canine medium or larger. Meet Croc! He is enthusiastic and happy about everything and anything! He takes everything in his stride and will happily fit in to most homes. Croc may suit living with or without a canine pal of any size or breed and children aged 10 years and older. Sorry no apartments for his active boy.

Croc is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). We have behavioural and health assessed this lovely dog, and they will remain with their racing owners until they find an adoptive home, at which point they are brought back into GAP. This means that should you be interested in adopting this dog, we are bringing the dog into GAP on the understanding that you will be adopting this particular dog, and no other dogs currently in our care.
