Steph & Shiraz

Shiraz entered GAP back in May of 2023. When she entered, I fell in love with her immediately!

Unfortunately I was just about to go away on a 4.5-week trip overseas, so I told myself, if she was there when I get back, it was a sign.

When I got back, she was still there! My partner and I had just gotten a puppy 1 year prior and weren’t ready to get another dog so quickly. So, when I found out she needed to go through our Behaviour Rehabilitation Program (BRP), I told myself again – If she aced the program and passed on the other side, it’s a sign. Well! She smashed through BRP with flying colours, and the universe was once again telling me, she was meant for us.

Once she had passed, she got stuck in vet status for a while due to an autoimmune disease. I took this as my shot to take her home for a medical foster and trial her with our whippet, Dorito. She fit in seamlessly! And from that first day of foster, I knew she had found her forever home with us.

We’re approaching almost two years with our Shirazzle Dazzle and she’s still finding new ways to enrich our lives. She loves nothing more than an afternoon long roach on the couch, especially nowadays where she also expects a belly rub. Her favourite toy is a green shark that she loves to throw around followed by tornadoes in the living room. She’s almost 8 now and has no signs of slowing down!

Since being adopted, we’ve put in a lot of additional behaviour work with her to the point where she now has a part time job with GAP. She comes along to public events, workplace visits, and even helps train our new class of helper dogs to gain confidence around a nice, quiet greyhound. A full circle moment as it was the helper dogs who helped train her during her BRP days.

Everyone we meet falls madly in love with her and usually requests that if we ‘find another Shiraz’, to hold it for them.

Adopting her was one of the best decisions of my life and I can’t imagine our little family without her.

Puddles is not only gorgeous but after his initial enthusiasm and excitement, he settles down and is quite a chilled dog. He is a friendly boy to all he meets. Puddles loves travelling in the car and is up for many road trips with his family. Puddles may suit living with or without a canine pal of medium/large in size and children aged 10 years and older. Sorry no apartments for Puddles.

This handsome young man has found his way back into GAP's care due to no fault of his own. Bud is looking for his new forever home and preferably one with a yard as he enjoys his time outside and sometimes just wants to sit an smell the flowers. A quiet home life is more up Bud's alley as he can be a little worried by lots of noise, he also isn't a big fan of the car so someone that isn't hoping for a road trip buddy would be best. He loves his walks and gets along well with other dogs. He has been in a home as an only dog for a while but can sometimes become a little lonely and bored so a new home with another friend to hang out with might be his perfect fit, or someone that is home more often than a full-time worker. He may also be ok living with children 10 and over.
