Glen, Bronwyn & Sabi

Almost 13 years ago, we adopted a very sweet greyhound that was called Emma.

She was whelped on 12/3/2011, and we picked her up from the Seymour site just a week before Christmas in 2012.  It was love at first sight.  She had funny ears that flopped backwards, and she had the sweetest, shyest nature.  We thought the name Emma was not fancy enough for this gorgeous girl, so we renamed her Sabine or Sabi as we mostly called her.

We loved her to the moon and back and she really was the best companion anyone could ask for.  She was so gentle with all my great nieces and nephews and was loved by all who met her.  We used to take her into the aged care facility where my dad lived, and the residents loved her.  We took her everywhere we went.  She loved the car and the beach.  She was so obedient and clever but also funny and engaging.

Sadly, she passed away aged 14 and a half last Monday.  She had a rare tumour develop in her upper jaw.  They could not tell us if it was a fast-growing cancer or a slow-growing cancer.  She then had vestibular disease, but it didn't resolve, and it started looking like she had a brain stem cancer as she was losing weight and symptoms were becoming worse.  Despite all this, she was brave until the end.  We had a wonderful day with her last Monday until the vet came to our home and helped her cross the rainbow bridge.

Thank you, gap for all the amazing work you do with these absolutely beautiful dogs.  We feel so fortunate to have had nearly 13 years of joy with one of your best.

Love Glen and Bronwyn

Micky ARP

3 years old

Micky is a handsome and affectionate greyhound with a calm and gentle nature. This sweet boy loves spending time with his people, seeking eye contact and wanting to please. While he can be relaxed and quiet, Micky does have a puppyish side and likes to stretch his legs with zoomies. He also loves treats and has shown interest in bird watching and believes that backyard zoomies are more fun with a bird nearby. He is looking for a home with a secure backyard. He would suit being an only dog or he may be suitable to live with medium or large canine companions. Micky may also be suitable to live with children aged 5 and over.

This dog is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). ARP dogs are kept with their racing owners until they find an adoptive home, at which point they are brought back into GAP. This means that should you be interested in adopting this dog, we are bringing the dog into GAP on the understanding that you will be adopting them. As such, you will not be able to meet any other dogs, as you otherwise would be able to.

Bones

5 years old

Bones may carry a name that sounds a little spooky, but there is nothing frightening about this gentle 5-year-old boy — quite the opposite. Bones is a quiet, sweet soul with a warm and personable nature that wins people over almost instantly. He has a puppyish enthusiasm for life that sits alongside a natural calm, and he loves nothing more than leaning gently into his handler in a silent, affectionate hello. Friendly and easy-going, he is the kind of dog who simply makes you feel good to be around. On the practical side, Bones is a dream to manage — well-behaved on lead and easy to handle in every sense. He is a versatile boy when it comes to his future home and could settle happily as a solo dog or alongside a canine companion of a similar size. He would suit a household with children aged 10 and over who will appreciate his gentle, laid-back temperament. If you are looking for a loving, undemanding companion with just enough puppyish charm to keep you smiling, Bones might be exactly the boy you have been waiting for. Bones has successfully completed some further training in our on-site behavioural rehabilitation program (BRP) and is now ready for adoption!

He may not be a chaotic as his Flintstone's name-sake but he sure is as cute as him! Our Bam Bam is friendly, affectionate and quiet but dont be fooled thinking he wont have some play time in his new home. We do think he may suit living with children 5 and over and with or without another medium or larger canine friend. We also think he may suit living in an apartment due to his quiet nature.

Stacey

2 years old

Stacey is a lovely greyhound with a sweet, affectionate nature and a personality that is easy to adore. Personable and eager to be part of the family, she enjoys spending time with her people and thrives on gentle attention and companionship. Stacey also has a playful, puppyish side that shines through once she feels comfortable, and her submissive nature makes her a sensitive and endearing companion. While she can be a little stressy at times, she responds well to reassurance and would benefit from a calm, supportive environment where she can build confidence. Stacey would be best suited to a home with children aged 10 years and over or adults, but is not suitable for a home with elderly residents. She could happily live as an only dog or with a respectful, calm canine friend who will help her feel secure without overwhelming her. Stacey may be suitable for a cat-friendly home, pending appropriate introductions. She is not suited to apartment living and would prefer a home where she has space to relax and settle into a predictable routine with her new family.

Tammy

5 years old

Tammy is a beautiful greyhound with a sweet nature and an outgoing personality. Affectionate and people-focused, Tammy loves spending time with her humans and is well known for her gentle habit of leaning in for pats and cuddles. She enjoys being part of the action and would thrive in a home where she can share plenty of love and companionship. Tammy may suit apartment living provided her exercise and enrichment needs are met. Tammy 20145 has had a previous injury to the wrist (carpus) on the left foreleg prior to GAP entry. She bears weight on this limb and the wrist is stable. Tammy has successfully completed behavioural rehabilitation and is ready to find her perfect forever home. She is best suited to a home with children aged 5 years and over or active adults, but is not suitable for an elderly household. Due to her history and prey drive, Tammy cannot live with cats or small dogs. She would be happiest as an only dog, though she may be able to live with a calm medium to large dog following a successful meet and greet. Tammy is a wonderful girl with so much love to give and is looking for a family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them.
