Ange

Ange has been part of the GAP family for over 20 years, starting her journey back in 2003 with her first “foster fail” – the legendary Roger.

What’s your name, how do you volunteer with GAP, and when did you first start volunteering with us?

Ange Hamilton - Community engagement volunteer. First foster dog failure Roger in 2003 Lochie 2nd foster fail  & then decided it was clear I couldn't send foster dogs back !  and instead decided to do community engagement as it was safer ! with my girls Dash, Miss Mo and now Maisie who have all been / are GAP volunteer girls !

What made you decide to become a GAP volunteer?

Wanted to be a part of showing  how great our Greyhounds are as pets and helping create awareness of the breed and what they have to offer also the GAP program and all it does to re-home & match the right Greyhound to the right forever family

What’s your favourite part of being a GAP volunteer?

Watching them get their shiny new green collars on adoption days - it's a brilliant feeling !!

What’s your best story or memory from your time volunteering with us?

The best moments are the kids at events meeting our dogs & the many kids over the years that have been scared of dogs in general & the first dog they end up patting is one of our Greyhounds and  that's it - they only have eyes for Greyhounds !!

What would you say to anyone thinking of volunteering with GAP?

Volunteering is one of my loves and I'll talk Greyhounds all day to anyone who's interested and wants to hear about the dogs and the GAP program ! The friendships we've made along the way with other volunteers are awesome and very special. From the foster carers to us handling  dogs up for adoption or our own dogs at events - so many people are involved with every dog along the way to find them the right fit for their new home - it's a great feeling to be apart of !

George

2 years old

Gorgeous George! Is there anything better than a hound named George? We are smitten with this loveable lad, he is sweet, affectionate, loves looking up at you with his beautiful eyes and asking for just one more chin scratch please! He is quite an unusual Red Brindle as he has minimal stripes on his coat, just another quirky thing to love about him! We think George may suit living with another canine friend of any size and teenagers 15 and over.

Wolf

3 years old

Wolf is a young boy who can be a little unsure in new environments, but once he feels safe, his true personality shines through—he’s playful, puppyish, and full of affection. Wolf has low vision, which doesn’t require medication and isn’t expected to worsen. He navigates the world with confidence once he’s familiar with his surroundings, and his gentle nature makes him a joy to be around. Wolf would thrive in a calm, supportive home where he can be the centre of attention. He’s best suited to being the only dog, as this will help him build trust and settle in at his own pace. He may also do well with older teens who understand his needs and can help him feel secure. To support his ongoing care, Wolf will be adopted with approval for a follow-up appointment with an eye specialist, fully covered by GAP.
