What is the fee to adopt a greyhound?

Just $100 will buy you 8 to 10 years of unlimited love! All our greyhounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed etc. They also come with a lead, collar and a coat.

Can I bring my own dog to the event?

No, sorry! We are unable to accommodate meet and greets with other dogs at this event. You can, however, undertake these at our Tullamarine kennels any day of the week other than a Sunday.

I have a cat - will there be a dog suitable for me?

Due to the high demand for cat tolerant dogs, we won't have any available at this event.

I'm not ready to adopt yet, can I still come?

Absolutely! Our beautiful greyhounds offer unlimited pats. What's not to love about that?

Little Man

Little Man is a sweet, affectionate greyhound with a charmingly quirky personality and a youthful, puppyish outlook on life. He loves spending time with his people and has a gentle, loving nature that makes him a joy to be around. While he can be playful and a little goofy at times, his affectionate side shines through in everything he does. Little Man would suit a home with children aged 10 years and over, but is not suitable for homes with elderly family members due to his enthusiasm. Having completed behavioural rehabilitation, he must not live with small dogs or cats, but could happily share his home with a medium to large canine companion or be the centre of attention as an only dog. Littleman has a mild heart murmur commonly seen in Greyhounds that currently requires no treatment. We would advise a routine check with your vet annually. He also would benefit from wearing boots when out walking due to soft paws. If you're looking for a loving, entertaining friend with plenty of character, Little Man is ready to steal your heart.

Marlowe

Meet Marlowe, a confident and outgoing greyhound with a big personality and an even bigger love of treats! This handsome boy thrives on human interaction, often seeking eye contact to connect with his people and let you know he's ready for his next adventure. Marlowe would love an active home where he can be included in daily activities and enjoy plenty of enrichment and companionship. Best suited to a family with children aged 10+ or adults, he is not appropriate for apartment living or homes with elderly residents due to his enthusiasm and energy. Marlowe would be happiest as either an only dog soaking up all the attention or living with a compatible medium to large canine companion. If you're looking for a loyal, engaging, and confident best friend, Marlowe could be the perfect match. Marlow has an auto immune disease, called "Pannus". This affects his eyes, and is controlled with daily eye drops, which he is such a good boy to get!

Maverick is looking for a home with adults or a family with children aged 10 years and over. Having completed behavioural rehabilitation, Maverick has made great progress and is ready for a fresh start with an understanding adopter who will continue to support him. Due to his history, he cannot live with small dogs, cats, or other small animals. He is not suited to a home with elderly residents and will thrive in an environment that respects his boundaries while allowing him to build confidence and enjoy life at his own pace.

Targan

This handsome 5-year-old black greyhound is a very large boy with an even bigger personality. Targan has some osteoarthritis, which doesn't currently cause him discomfort. It will be advisable to monitor this over the years with regular vet checks and arthritic management. Targan is incredibly social and loves meeting new people. Friendly, outgoing and confident, he never misses an opportunity to say hello and soak up some attention. One of his favourite things is enjoying a pat while out on a walk, happily making friends wherever he goes. Affectionate and playful, Targan has a puppy-like zest for life that makes him a joy to be around. He loves treats, enjoys human company and is always keen to be involved in whatever is happening. His excitement can sometimes get the better of him, and he may jump up to greet people or become a little boisterous when he's happy. While he does settle down nicely, he's an active and enthusiastic boy who will thrive with owners who appreciate his energetic nature. Targan can be strong on the lead, particularly when excited, so he'll need confident handlers who can comfortably manage a large dog. For this reason, he is not suited to frail owners. This extroverted lad would suit an active home with a secure backyard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy family life. Due to his size and exuberance, Targan is best suited to a home with children aged 15 years and over. If you're after a fun, affectionate greyhound who will fill your days with happiness, adventures and plenty of personality, Targan is ready to find his forever family.

Recently, he spent a month in our Prison Pet Partnership Program, where he worked hard learning valuable pet life skills to help prepare him for life in a loving forever home. Naturally an introvert, Ginny can be anxious and cautious in new situations, but he always does his best to be brave and takes comfort from patient, understanding people. Once Ginny trusts you, his true personality shines through. He becomes a happy, affectionate boy who loves spending time with his people and enjoys plenty of pats and attention. During foster care, we discovered that Ginny much prefers the outdoors to indoor living, so a secure backyard is a must for this zoomie-loving boy. Ginny is likely to thrive with an experienced greyhound owner and a family with teenage children who can appreciate his gentle nature and give him the time and space he needs to blossom.

Oh Sweet Tiger, you are such a gentle soul that wants nothing more than a patient home and lifetime supply of twiggy sticks and ear rubs. Tiger has come a long way since starting his GAP journey and recently came back from foster care where he learnt a lot of new things and found some confidence in his time. Tiger has come back with a newfound confidence, and we are so thrilled how far he has come, whilst he still has times where he is unsure, he tries his very best. We think Tiger may suit living in a home with or without another dog medium or larger and children 15 and over. He will do best in a home with a backyard in a nice quiet area as loud noises and lots of traffic are still very scary for him. Tiger may suit living with full time workers. Tiger has anxiety and is on medication to help with this.

Sonny ARP

Friendly and outgoing, he seeks connection with eager eye contact and a desire to please that is most endearing. Known to be quite the conversationalist, Sonny enjoys "speaking his mind" with cheerful chatter, all while his signature waggy "helicopter" tail ensures no entrance goes unnoticed.

With his lively and excitable nature, Sonny would be best suited to a home that can indulge his active spirit and zest for play. His enthusiasm can make him a little erratic on the lead at times, but with guidance and patience, he will shine as the perfect companion. Sonny may suit living with or without a canine friend of similar size and would do well with children aged 10 years and older. A home with a backyard would suit him splendidly, offering the space he needs to frolic and burn off his boundless energy.

Sonny is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). We have behavioural and health assessed this lovely dog, and they will remain with their racing owners until they find an adoptive home, at which point they are brought back into GAP. This means that should you be interested in adopting this dog, we are bringing the dog into GAP on the understanding that you will be adopting this particular dog, and no other dogs currently in our care.
