34 find homes at Meadows Adoption Day

Over 200 people braved Melbourne’s cold weather today in hope of finding an extra addition to share the couch with this winter.

34 of 37 greyhounds available for adoption have found their new homes and are ready to spend the rest of their time on the couch.

GAP adoption days are held every 6 – 8 weeks across metropolitan and regional Victoria and it is clear that more and more Victorians are falling in love with the breed every day.

Greyhound Racing Victoria’s Rehoming Manager Sean Stanton says it is their friendly and gentle nature that make greyhounds great pets.

“It is always great to see so many people as passionate about greyhounds as we are.”

“They are very easy-going dogs and in fact they are quite lazy, with most only needing a 15 minute walk per day.”

Jackie Ross and her family adopted Cheetah and can’t wait to get him home.

“I have wanted to adopt a greyhound for years” said Jackie “my Labrador passed away not long ago so Cheetah will fill a space in our lives and on our couch”.

If you missed out on adopting a greyhound today, please know that everyday is an adoption day at our Seymour and Baxter facilities. To find out more information about the greyhounds available and why greyhounds do make great pets please visit gap.grv.org.au.

Birthday boy Moroka found his home too! YAY!
