Ange

Ange has been part of the GAP family for over 20 years, starting her journey back in 2003 with her first “foster fail” – the legendary Roger.

What’s your name, how do you volunteer with GAP, and when did you first start volunteering with us?

Ange Hamilton - Community engagement volunteer. First foster dog failure Roger in 2003 Lochie 2nd foster fail  & then decided it was clear I couldn't send foster dogs back !  and instead decided to do community engagement as it was safer ! with my girls Dash, Miss Mo and now Maisie who have all been / are GAP volunteer girls !

What made you decide to become a GAP volunteer?

Wanted to be a part of showing  how great our Greyhounds are as pets and helping create awareness of the breed and what they have to offer also the GAP program and all it does to re-home & match the right Greyhound to the right forever family

What’s your favourite part of being a GAP volunteer?

Watching them get their shiny new green collars on adoption days - it's a brilliant feeling !!

What’s your best story or memory from your time volunteering with us?

The best moments are the kids at events meeting our dogs & the many kids over the years that have been scared of dogs in general & the first dog they end up patting is one of our Greyhounds and  that's it - they only have eyes for Greyhounds !!

What would you say to anyone thinking of volunteering with GAP?

Volunteering is one of my loves and I'll talk Greyhounds all day to anyone who's interested and wants to hear about the dogs and the GAP program ! The friendships we've made along the way with other volunteers are awesome and very special. From the foster carers to us handling  dogs up for adoption or our own dogs at events - so many people are involved with every dog along the way to find them the right fit for their new home - it's a great feeling to be apart of !

Berlin

4 years old

Berlin is a quiet and thoughtful greyhound with a cautious, independent nature. He can be a little aloof at first, preferring to observe the world from a comfortable distance while he builds trust in his own time. Berlin isn’t demanding of attention, but he appreciates calm companionship and a predictable routine. His gentle presence makes him well suited to a peaceful home environment. Berlin would thrive in a home with adults or children aged 10+ who understand and respect his need for space. He would be happiest as an only dog or living with a calm canine companion, and he is not cat friendly. With patience and understanding, Berlin will reward his adopters with quiet loyalty and the special bond that comes from earning the trust of a reserved soul.

Boofa

4 years old

Boofa is a sweet, handsome brindle boy who wins hearts wherever he goes. He’s a social and affectionate greyhound who enjoys being part of the action and spending time with his people. Boofa has a gentle nature, loves attention, and is happiest when he’s included as a true family member. Like many greyhounds, he’s still building confidence on slippery floors, so rugs or mats in key areas will help him feel secure as he settles in. Boofa would suit a home with children aged 5+ or adults, where his calm and friendly personality can really shine. He’s best placed as an only dog or with a medium to large canine companion, and he’s not suitable for a home with cats. With the right setup and a loving household, Boofa will return your kindness with endless affection and quiet companionship.

Paisley

6 years old

This is Paisley, yes, she may be 6 and a half years old but that doesn't stop this pretty girl from acting like a puppy! As soon as you meet her you are guaranteed to fall completely in love with her, she has a contagious happy demeanour that you can't help to smile back at her. She loves nothing more than hanging with her people and getting all the attention. She is quite an active girl and will likely require a home that has a back yard that she can run and play in. She may be OK to live with a dog tolerant cat. Whilst in out care, Paisley has had extensive dental work done, due to "CUPS". Pasiley is a little gummy shark, but this doesn't let it slow her down.
