Ange

Ange has been part of the GAP family for over 20 years, starting her journey back in 2003 with her first “foster fail” – the legendary Roger.

What’s your name, how do you volunteer with GAP, and when did you first start volunteering with us?

Ange Hamilton - Community engagement volunteer. First foster dog failure Roger in 2003 Lochie 2nd foster fail  & then decided it was clear I couldn't send foster dogs back !  and instead decided to do community engagement as it was safer ! with my girls Dash, Miss Mo and now Maisie who have all been / are GAP volunteer girls !

What made you decide to become a GAP volunteer?

Wanted to be a part of showing  how great our Greyhounds are as pets and helping create awareness of the breed and what they have to offer also the GAP program and all it does to re-home & match the right Greyhound to the right forever family

What’s your favourite part of being a GAP volunteer?

Watching them get their shiny new green collars on adoption days - it's a brilliant feeling !!

What’s your best story or memory from your time volunteering with us?

The best moments are the kids at events meeting our dogs & the many kids over the years that have been scared of dogs in general & the first dog they end up patting is one of our Greyhounds and  that's it - they only have eyes for Greyhounds !!

What would you say to anyone thinking of volunteering with GAP?

Volunteering is one of my loves and I'll talk Greyhounds all day to anyone who's interested and wants to hear about the dogs and the GAP program ! The friendships we've made along the way with other volunteers are awesome and very special. From the foster carers to us handling  dogs up for adoption or our own dogs at events - so many people are involved with every dog along the way to find them the right fit for their new home - it's a great feeling to be apart of !

Moro is a friendly, outgoing greyhound who approaches life with confidence and curiosity. He enjoys meeting new people, taking in his surroundings, and being part of the daily routine, while still maintaining the independent nature that greyhounds are known for. Moro is a relaxed and self-assured boy who is happy to spend time with his family but is equally content entertaining himself and enjoying some quiet downtime. Moro is seeking an adult-only home where he can continue to thrive and enjoy a stable lifestyle. He is not suited to living with children or elderly residents. Having successfully completed behavioural rehabilitation, Moro is ready for a fresh start with an adopter who understands his needs and will support his ongoing progress. Due to his history, he cannot live with small dogs, cats, or other small animals. With the right home, Moro will make a loyal and rewarding companion.

Cowboy

4 years old

Cowboy is a handsome boy with a big heart and an even bigger zest for life. Sweet, friendly, and full of personality, he is an outgoing and confident boy who loves spending time with his people. Cowboy is affectionate, playful, and delightfully puppyish at times, often seeking eye contact and looking for ways to engage with those around him. He is eager to please and thrives on attention, especially when it comes in the form of a full-body scratch. When he's feeling excited, Cowboy has a quirky habit of gently mouthing hands as a way of expressing his enthusiasm. It's a playful and endearing behaviour, never intended to be rough or aggressive. Cowboy has experience living indoors and comes crate trained and toilet trained, making him well prepared for life in a home. He can be enthusiastic when heading out for a walk, but once his initial excitement has passed, he settles nicely and walks well on lead. Cowboy may suit a home with or without a canine companion of a similar size and would likely enjoy living with older children in their teenage years. With his loving nature, happy outlook, and entertaining personality, Cowboy is sure to bring plenty of smiles to his future family.

This enthusiastic girl loves a good zoomie session and has a wonderfully goofy nature that brings plenty of fun and laughter to her day. She could happily live as an only dog or with a canine companion, and may even suit a cat-friendly home. Russia is not suited to apartment living and would love a home with space to stretch her legs, share her affection, and show off her joyful personality.

Tiger

6 years old

Oh Sweet Tiger, you are such a gentle soul that wants nothing more than a patient home and lifetime supply of twiggy sticks and ear rubs. Tiger has come a long way since starting his GAP journey and recently came back from foster care where he learnt a lot of new things and found some confidence in his time. Tiger has come back with a newfound confidence, and we are so thrilled how far he has come, whilst he still has times where he is unsure, he tries his very best. We think Tiger may suit living in a home with or without another dog medium or larger and children 15 and over. He will do best in a home with a backyard in a nice quiet area as loud noises and lots of traffic are still very scary for him. Tiger may suit living with full time workers. Tiger has anxiety and is on medication to help with this.
