The annual Midsumma Festival Pride March took place along the streets of St Kilda on Sunday, February 5 and representatives from GRV & GAP were there to march proudly in support of the expression of inclusion and diversity in our communit
Among the 13,000 marchers were a team of 20 from the Victorian greyhound community including GRV Chair Peita Duncan, Board Member Bill Buccilli, CEO Stuart Laing, staff, GAP volunteers and two greyhound owning Drag Queens who were also joined by six beautiful re-homed greyhounds wearing striking rainbow themed rugs.
“Being involved in the Midsumma Festival Pride March is always a highlight on the calendar for GRV & we can’t wait to come down each year” GRV Chair Peita Duncan said.
“It is fantastic to march down Fitzroy Street with the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrate the pride we have in our dogs and in our industry as a whole. It is clear from the cheering, pats and cuddles our greyhounds receive along the route that we aren’t the only ones who love our greyhounds, especially on days of celebration like today.
“Our ongoing commitment to inclusion and diversity is something we take very seriously, and we will continue to reinforce that the door to our sport and rehoming is always open, and we welcome everyone, especially those considering providing a forever home to one of our gorgeous dogs through the Greyhound Adoption Program.”

Rudy is a handsome greyhound with a larger-than-life personality! Friendly, outgoing and full of confidence, he loves being around people and isn't shy about asking for attention. This affectionate boy is a real character, with a boofy nature and plenty of enthusiasm for life. Rudy is looking for an active home with a secure backyard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy regular exercise. He may be suitable to live as an only dog or with a medium to large canine companion. He may also be suitable to live with children aged 15 years and over.
This greyhound is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). Through this program, greyhounds stay with their current owners while they wait to find their perfect forever home. If you're interested in adopting this dog, we'll arrange for them to come into GAP specifically for you to meet and complete the adoption process. Since the dogis being brought into the program based on your interest, we ask that applicants be reasonably confident this is the greyhound they'd like to welcome into their family. Unlike our standard adoption process, you won't be able to meet multiple dogs at the same time however our team will share lots of information about this greyhound to help you determine if they're the perfect match for your family.
