Rashid

3 years old

Child tolerant

Small dog tolerant

Rashid (or 'Sheedy' to his friends) is a sweet little soul who is looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel safe and loved. While he can be anxious and cautious at times, Rashid truly does try his best, and once he settles into a routine he becomes a lovely, gentle companion. He’s a submissive boy who enjoys the comfort of his bed, the company of other dogs, and the predictability of daily life. In his previous home, he proved himself to be a perfect gentleman indoors. He can be wary of new people at first, but with patience (and a tasty treat or two) he warms up and settles nicely. Rashid thrives with routine and feels most comfortable in a quiet home and neighbourhood where life is calm and predictable. Despite his worries, there is something incredibly special about Rashid. He is looking for a home with dog company (small, medium or large dogs), he may suit a family with children 10+. Rashid needs a quiet home environment, and would love a backyard. Rashid has had a hock fracture repaired prior to entry to GAP. He puts full weight on this limb and the hock is stable. Although the hock has been repaired and managed there is increased risk of developing osteoarthritis in the future.

Professor Paws

4 years old

Child tolerant

Meet Professor Paws — a quiet, sensible gentleman who prefers thoughtful observation over the hustle and bustle of daily life. True to his distinguished name, he carries himself with a calm, reserved presence and an independent spirit. While he may not be the life of the party, Professor Paws has a subtle charm that grows on you — the kind of companion who chooses his moments for affection carefully, making them all the more meaningful. Having completed behavioural rehabilitation training, he has developed excellent self-control and thrives in a structured, low-key environment. Professor Paws would suit a home with adults or kids aged 10+ who can respect his introverted nature and give him the space he needs to feel comfortable. He can live happily as an only dog or alongside a medium-to-large canine companion who shares his calm demeanor. Due to his history, he is not suitable for homes with small dogs or cats, and he isn’t suited to living with elderly individuals. His quiet, independent personality may also make him well suited to apartment living. If you’re looking for a dignified, low-maintenance companion who values peace and gentle companionship, Professor Paws may be the perfect addition to your home. Professor Paws had a corn in our care, which we treated with a flexor tenotomy. The corn and the pain associated has resolved.

Rosa Diaz

3 years old

Child tolerant

Meet Rosa Diaz — a force of nature wrapped in a sleek Greyhound frame, with a personality as bold and dynamic as her name suggests. This outgoing, affectionate girl is equal parts charm and chaos, bringing puppyish energy to everything she does. Rosa doesn’t do “idle” — she’s always on the move, eager to explore, play, and be right in the middle of the action. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and while she can be a little excitable and boofy, it’s all part of her irresistible character. Having completed behavioural rehabilitation training, Rosa has made fantastic progress, but she’ll still need a confident handler committed to continuing her manners and helping her channel that energy positively. Rosa Diaz is best suited to a home with adults or families with children aged 10+, where her high energy and lively nature can be properly supported — she’s not suited to homes with elderly individuals. She must be the only dog, or could live with a calm, medium to large canine companion, but no small dogs or cats. Apartment living isn’t right for Rosa; she needs a secure backyard where she can stretch her legs and burn off steam. In the right home, Rosa will be fiercely loyal, endlessly entertaining, and a wonderfully affectionate companion who keeps life exciting.

Hank Hill

Meet Hank Hill — a handsome, confident greyhound with a heart as solid as a well-built propane grill. True to his namesake, Hank is steady, reliable, and full of quiet charm, but don’t let that calm demeanor fool you — when it’s time for zoomies, this boy will tell you hwhat! Hank loves a good burst of speed followed by leaning in for affection, and he thrives on companionship with his people. He’s completed behavioural rehabilitation training and has come out the other side with structure, manners, and a strong desire to please. Like any good Texan gentleman, he appreciates routine, respect, and a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. Hank would do best in a home with kids aged 10+ or adults who understand his boundaries and can match his confident nature. He prefers to be the only dog or live with a medium-to-large canine companion who respects his space — smaller animals, including cats and small dogs, aren’t his “kind of alley.” He is not suited to living with elderly individuals, as his playful bursts and size can be a bit much. If you're looking for a loyal companion who brings equal parts dignity and goofball energy — a dog who’ll stand by you like propane and propane accessories — Hank Hill might just be your guy.

Mia is a sweet and gentle soul who, despite the anxiety she carries, faces the world with a quiet determination and a willingness to try that is truly heartwarming. Calm and polite, she is the kind of girl who will never impose herself, always erring on the softer, more submissive side — but underneath that gentle exterior is a friendly, personable little dog who genuinely wants to connect. She may need a little extra time and reassurance to find her confidence, but every small step she takes is a reminder of just how hard she is trying.

A patient, understanding home is where Mia will truly begin to flourish. She would do well with children aged 10 and older — those who are calm and kind and will give her the space to settle at her own pace. In the right environment, with gentle routines and plenty of quiet encouragement, Mia has every chance of blossoming into a deeply loving and devoted companion. She deserves someone who will champion her, and in return, she will give everything she has. She may also suit living as an only dog but may thrive best in a home with a confident canine companion of similar size to help bring out her confidence.

Billy

Hi I’m a Billy ! This is what my lovely foster carer said about me: It takes me about 2–3 weeks to settle in but once I do, you’ll be rewarded with a wagging tail (don’t expect wild zoomies… I’m more of a slow-burn guy) and sweet boy. I need outdoor space. This is non-negotiable. Why? Because like to make a spot in the yard to lay in and it makes me feel safe. One other thing I love is cooked chicken (without the bones!). I’m not a big eater, but treats are my love language. Pig’s ears = yes please. I would like a quiet, predictable home. No kids (they are scary), and I'd like to have the house to myself (other dogs, no thanks, this in my home!). A few more things about me: I don’t like the car yet, I unlocked my “I’m so comfortable” sleepy groans (this means I’m relaxed, not scary), I like my foster dad because I know him now (and he gives me the best ear scratches!) but strange men on the street make me a bit nervous. Big dogs that bark at me? Rude. I was minding my business. I am still a little scared of a couple things — noises, sudden movements, curtains being pulled (terrifying) — but I’m learning every single day. Despite my nerves, I’m actually very easy-going. I’m fine being home while you’re at work (more quality time to sleep in the yard!). I’d suit calm, patient, owners that can be full-time workers with outdoor space, realistic expectations, and a sense of humour. Love, Your future greyhound, Billy

Child tolerant

He's got the moves like Jagger, he has the swag like Jagger but we think our Jagger is much more handsome! This friendly, outgoing and affectionate young lad is ready for his forever home and we cant wait for him to find it. If you have wanted a fun, happy go lucky dog then Jagger is your man. He may suit homes with or without another medium or larger canine friend and children 10 and over. He may also suit living with full time workers (more time to work on his next big hit)!

This dog is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). We have behavioural and health assessed this lovely dog, and they will remain with their racing owners until they find an adoptive home, at which point they are brought back into GAP. This means that should you be interested in adopting this dog, we are bringing the dog into GAP on the understanding that you will be adopting this particular dog, and not other dogs currently in our care.
