They’re anything but grey
For 30 years, the Greyhound Adoption Program has had the joy of seeing greyhounds become part of your families. Through your photos and videos, we’ve witnessed it all -
the zoomies, the couch takeovers, the upside-down naps, and the wonderfully quirky habits that make each greyhound so unique. And after all this time, one thing is certain…They’re anything but grey.
So we’re putting it to you…
If you could rename the greyhound, what would you call it?
A Snooze Hound? A Goof Hound? A Soul Hound? Or something entirely your own?
How to Enter
- Record a short video or photo of your greyhound
- Rename them as a "________hound"
- Tell us why it suits them
- Submit your entry! Easy as that!
Not sure where to start?
Think about what makes your greyhound them:
- Their quirks
- Their personality
- Their favourite things
- Because sometimes… one word says it all!
We will be sharing all our favourites via social, so this is your chance to celebrate them and help others see just how special they are!

This affectionate boy is a real character, with a boofy nature and plenty of enthusiasm for life. Rudy is looking for an active home with a secure backyard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy regular exercise. He may be suitable to live as an only dog or with a medium to large canine companion. He may also be suitable to live with children aged 15 years and over.
This greyhound is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). Through this program, greyhounds stay with their current owners while they wait to find their perfect forever home. If you're interested in adopting this dog, we'll arrange for them to come into GAP specifically for you to meet and complete the adoption process. Since the dogis being brought into the program based on your interest, we ask that applicants be reasonably confident this is the greyhound they'd like to welcome into their family. Unlike our standard adoption process, you won't be able to meet multiple dogs at the same time however our team will share lots of information about this greyhound to help you determine if they're the perfect match for your family.
Virginia ARP
Virginia is a sweet, quiet girl with a gentle and soft nature. Very pretty, with beautiful light-colored eyes and an elegant Roman nose, she has a lovely personable temperament and enjoys spending time with her people. Affectionate without being overly demanding, Virginia will often seek eye contact and loves feeling connected to those around her. She has a playful, puppyish side and a submissive nature that makes her an easy companion to have around. Virginia may suit a home on her own or with confident small, medium or large dogs. She may also be suitable to live with children aged 10 years and older. Virginia is not suited to apartment living and would love a home where she has room to relax, play and thrive.

Jeanie ARP
Jeanie is a playful, happy, social girl that loves treats and toy time and will fill her new home with so much joy! She is the beam of sunshine you have been looking for in your new companion! We think Jeanie may suit living with children 10 and over and another medium or larger male canine companion. She would love an outside area to play in in her new home!
This dog is part of our Assisted Rehoming Program (ARP). We have behavioural and health assessed this lovely dog, and they will remain with their racing owners until they find an adoptive home, at which point they are brought back into GAP. This means that should you be interested in adopting this dog, we are bringing the dog into GAP on the understanding that you will be adopting this particular dog, and no other dogs currently in our care.
