New Forever Homes Found for Adorable Greyhounds

The curtain fell on the 2023 National Greyhound Adoption Month on Sunday with Victoria’s Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) major annual adoption day at The Meadows.

Hundreds of current and prospective greyhound devotees attended the event that rehomed 46 retired greyhounds to their forever homes on the day.

GAP Rehoming Manager Sean Stanton said interest in this year’s event demonstrated that the greyhound breed remains a popular choice as a pet.

“Greyhounds becoming household pets is increasing and that is really evident by how many you see being walked and exercised across the state.

“They are adaptable to almost any home environment, even apartment living, and any family size as they are quite content to lay around and be the best ‘couch potatoes’ you can find.

“If people are looking for a gentle, calm and placid low maintenance but highly affectionate dog breed as a pet, then a greyhound is for them.

“The team at GAP is committed to matching the right greyhound with the right family to ensure a long-lasting life together in the greyhound’s new forever home.

“Every day is an adoption day at GAP”, Stanton said.

Appointments can be made to visit GAP at Seymour or Tullamarine and meet all the beautiful hounds available for rehoming via gap.grv.org.au or give the team a call on (03) 5799 0166 to find out more.
