The recently completed Greyhound Adoption Program – Supporting Our Partners initiative has contributed $6000 to four of its rehoming partners.
Greyhound Racing Victoria’s GAP matched the $100 greyhound adoption fee for 60 greyhounds paid for by adopters. Each adopter nominated a rehoming group or charity of their choice.
The nominated partners received:
- $1,700 (17 Greyhound Adoption Fees) – Greyhound Safety Net
- $1,700 (17 Greyhound Adoption Fees) – Racing 2 Rehome
- $1,300 (13 Greyhound Adoption Fees) – Geelong Animal Welfare Society
- $1,300 (13 Greyhound Adoption Fees) – RSPCA Victoria
RSPCA Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Dr Liz Walker praised the adopters who participated in the program.
“To all the incredible adopters who selected RSPCA Victoria as their chosen charity, we cannot thank you enough,” Dr Walker said.
“All donations to RSPCA Victoria go towards our important work.
“We are always incredibility grateful to our supporters who share our love, kindness and care for animals. We simply wouldn’t be able to do our work without dedicated animal lovers like you.”
With multiple Animal Care Centres across Victoria, RSPCA provides refuge, care and new homes where possible to more than 20,000 animals every year.
President and Adoption Co-ordinator of the Greyhound Safety Net (GSN), Julie Mathieson, said the organisation valued the support of GAP.
“We value the ongoing support of GAP, and this generous donation program which will help many greyhounds looking for their forever home,” Ms Mathieson said.
“As a charity run entirely by volunteers, we apply all money that comes to us to help as many greyhounds as we can.”
Established in 2006, Greyhound Safety Net (GSN) has a proud record of moving more than 1400 greyhounds from kennel to couch.
GAP works closely with partner rehoming organisations year-round to support their endeavours in rehoming every greyhound that comes into their care.
