GAP to cease deliveries

Since August last year the Greyhound Adoption Program team has been delivering dogs to adoptive and foster homes while Victoria has been in lockdowns. As COVID restrictions begin to ease, this Friday 22 October will (hopefully!) be the last day that GAP will deliver greyhounds to their new forever homes.

From Saturday 23 October onwards, those wishing to adopt a greyhound can do so by making an appointment with the GAP team. As Melbourne residents are not able to travel to regional Victoria, which is where our kennels are located, we will be undertaking adoptions each Saturday at a facility in Tullamarine as an alternative pickup location.

All COVID safe practices must be abided by. These include wearing a face mask at all times on-site, signing in with a QR code, and abiding by all Government social distancing protocols.

Since the start of Lockdown number 6 (5 August 2021), GAP has delivered 315 greyhounds for adoption, 140 greyhound to foster care and collected 159 greyhounds from foster care.

Since August 2020 a massive 55,324 kilometres have been travelled by the GAP team delivering dogs to their new homes – this is the equivalent to three laps of Australia! Pretty amazing huh?
