Greyhounds in long johns fly out of Tullamarine

On Saturday, thirty-four greyhounds were closely matched with new loving owners and found their forever homes at GRV’s Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) Open Day at its Tullamarine base.

Each dog that was adopted left for their new surrounds with a set of cozy warm long johns to relax on the couch with their new owners.

Louise Martin, GRV General Manager of Communications and greyhound pet owner, said the ongoing interest in adopting greyhounds was heartwarming.

“It is always rewarding for our program to be able to match and find new owners and homes for our beautiful, ex-race dogs, many of whom have been through our foster care and domestic socialising process to prepare them to be re-homed to the best and most suitable environments possible.

“Speaking from experience as an owner, greyhounds are simply the most precious and perfect pet for almost any home, whether that be families with children, the elderly or people of any age living alone.”

Our next adoption day will be held on Saturday 3 September from 12pm-4pm at GAP’s Seymour facility.

For the adoption fee, owners will not only take home a new family member, but will also receive a new jacket and lead for their greyhound as well as a small bag of food.
