This years annual Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) Christmas Party was a little different to previous years. Held on Saturday 12th December, the whole GAP crew assembled virtually via Zoom to thank all their volunteers.
Although there haven’t been many events or activations for the volunteers to participate in this year, they have remained an intricate part of the GAP team by helping with the delivery of greyhounds to their forever homes during the pandemic, assisting greyhounds with the transition to pet-life during the program, fostering greyhounds that require more time to adjust to life after racing, providing greyhound enrichment at GAP’s kennels in Seymour and much more.
The Christmas Party was also a great way for many of the volunteers to catch up with each other and see their beloved GAP greyhounds like Trev, who they may have not seen since early 2020.
The event began with an address from CEO Alan Clayton, followed by a reflection on how GAP adapted to the many obstacles 2020 threw their way. There was also a very special guest appearance by Santa (you can watch the very special Santa video here) followed by fun trivia.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to help retired greyhounds find homes and GAP is always on the lookout for new volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a GAP volunteer, click here.
