GAP Thrives Despite Lockdown

When metropolitan Melbourne entered Stage 4 lockdown on the 2nd of August, the Greyhound Adoption Program team were compelled to adapt to the new restrictions quickly.

Proving just how agile they are, the team came up with greyhound deliveries where twice a week the greys are loaded into a van and taken to either their foster homes or forever homes across metro Melbourne.

To say the GAP van has clocked a few extra kilometers would be an understatement, with 153 greyhounds delivered for adoption, 67 delivered for foster care and 76 collected from foster care. That is a total of 296 dogs dropped off and collected during a 7-week period!

The GAP team will continue to dedicate each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to transporting greyhounds until restrictions ease.

If you are interested in adopting a greyhound, please fill out an adoption form and keep an eye on the ‘Available Dogs’ section on the GAP website each Monday and Thursday from 10:30am when the site is updated. As soon as you see a greyhound that you think might be a good match, please call the GAP Seymour office on (03) 5799 0166.
