VIDEO: Every Greyhound Has a Story – Jordan and Monty

When a greyhound named Monty was adopted into a Ballarat home in 2009, it changed the lives of his new owners, particularly Jordan, who was just nine years old at the time.

“Jordan was a boy who always lacked self confidence,” Jordan’s mum Cassie Sanders said. “When we adopted Monty it changed him completely.”

“Here was this small, shy boy who instantly grew in confidence because he had this big, gentle dog as a pet. He’d walk Monty down the street standing nice and tall, with his shoulders back. He was so proud. Monty really brought Jordan out of his shell.”

Sadly, Monty passed away recently at age 11, after six wonderful years living with the Sanders family.

While still sad at the loss of Monty, the Sanders household recently opened its doors to a new greyhound from the Greyhound Adoption Program, named Koda.

“Koda has such a bubbly personality. We miss Monty deeply but Koda has fitted so well into our family. She is always so happy. She reminds me of Marilyn from (Channel Seven’s) Home And Away,” Cassie laughed.
