Media Release: GAP Supporting Our Partners

From Wednesday July 28, 2021, the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) will match the greyhound adoption fee paid by adopters and donate the money to our partner rehoming groups and greyhound rehoming charities.

For the first sixty greyhounds adopted, GAP will match the $100 adoption fee with a donation of the same amount to one of our rehoming partners; Racing 2 Rehome, the Geelong Animal Welfare Society, Greyhound Safety Net or RSPCA Victoria.
Each of our adopters will have the opportunity to choose where their matched donation will go, by dropping a dog treat into a jar that represents each of the respective groups. When all 60 treats have been allocated, GAP will then make the donation to the respective groups.
GAP works closely with partner rehoming organisations year-round to support their endeavours in rehoming each and every greyhound that comes into their care.

Quotes attributable to GRV CEO Alan Clayton
“We’re proud to partner with each of these rehoming groups who all do terrific work in the animal adoption space. We appreciate everything our rehoming partners do to support the welfare of our greyhounds, and we look forward to meeting our future adopters very soon.”

Quotes Attributable to Rebecca Miller President of Racing 2 Rehome
“We are thrilled to be a part of this great initiative and we look forward to working with GAP long into the future”

Quotes Attributable to CEO Helen Cocks from The Geelong Animal Welfare Society
“We’re grateful to be one of the chosen recipients of the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) promotion. Geelong Animal Welfare Society (GAWS) provides best practice care and rehoming services for thousands of animals each year, including many greyhounds. The breed’s placid nature and ‘couch potato’ tendencies make them such wonderful companions for so many and this support will help us to continue to assist the animals that arrive at GAWS.”

Quotes Attributable to Julie Mathieson President and Adoption Co-ordinator from Greyhound Safety Net
“Established in 2006, Greyhound Safety Net (GSN) has a proud record of moving over 1400 greyhounds from kennel to couch. As a charity run entirely by volunteers, we apply all money that comes to us to help as many greyhounds as we can. We value the ongoing support of GAP, and this generous donation program which will help many greyhounds looking for their forever home.”

Quotes Attributable to Dr Liz Walker, CEO, RSPCA Victoria
“Greyhounds make wonderfully affectionate pets and as a partner organisation of the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP), we are pleased to work with them to help facilitate forever homes for Victorian greyhounds.

RSPCA Victoria relies on the community to help support our work to end animal cruelty therefore we are grateful to be named as a recipient of funds raised through GAP’s upcoming adoption initiative. The community can rest assured that all donations will go directly back into caring for other Victorian animals in need.”
