Magical greyhound could win $50,000 for GAP

The Greyhound Adoption Program will land a $50,000 windfall if champion greyhound Houdini Boy wins Saturday night’s Group 1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers at The Meadows.

Houdini Boy’s owner, Mark Ruff of Diggers Rest, is aiming to support GAP with the owner’s share (50 per cent) of any prize money his star stayer wins on the night.

As such, a top three finish by Houdini Boy will see GAP collect $50,000 if he runs first, $14,250 if he runs second or $7,125 if he finishes third.

“We just want to put something back into the sport,” Ruff said.

Houdini Boy is one of the world’s most exciting greyhounds, with his name matching his racing patterns as he regularly storms home from seemingly impossible positions to win, reminiscent of an escape artist.

The Fanta Bale Super Stayers will be run at 9.12pm on Saturday as part of Australian Cup night, which will broadcast live on 7Mate from 9pm and streamed via watchdog.grv.org.au.
