GAP at The Royal Melbourne Show

The Royal Melbourne Show is back on again, which means Greyhound Racing Victoria’s adoption program will be represented.

As has become a yearly tradition, the GAP stand will have  information about what it’s like to have a greyhound as a pet, what processes are involved in transitioning a greyhound from being a racing animal to a domestic pet, giveaways and of course real-life greyhounds people can come and pat.

The stand is always a hit with the young and young at heart and its rise in popularity correlates with a recent increase in greyhound adoption.

As a long-standing Melbourne tradition, part of the appeal of the Royal Melbourne Show is the chance to see animals of all shapes and sizes up close and the GAP stall is no exception.

While some believe greyhounds to be naturally competitive and highly-energetic due to their racing background, greyhound pets are affectionate, low-maintenance, docile and great company.
