Deputy Premier James Merlino was one of many Victorians to welcome a new pet greyhound into their home yesterday.

Mr Merlino and his family adopted Sara, a stunning blue greyhound who was one of 33 former racing greyhounds to be adopted into loving forever homes out of Sunday’s Adoption Day at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club.

Hundreds of greyhound lovers showed their supported by ‘Liking’ a post on Mr Merlino’s Facebook page, which contained photos of Sara spending time with her new family.

Among those to ‘Like’ the post was Premier Daniel Andrews.
