The growing popularity of greyhounds as pets continues with hundreds of people attending the Greyhound Adoption Program’s first ever Adoption Day in Ballarat yesterday.
“We had around 350 people attend Sunday’s event which was a great result. Of the 35 greyhounds we had available for adoption on the day, 33 found homes, with the remaining greyhounds Dizzy and Hughy returning to Seymour until they are matched to the right home,” said Lou Martin, Greyhound Racing Victoria’s General Manager Strategic Communication and Marketing.
The Greyhound Adoption Program prides itself on matching the right greyhounds to the right homes, based on each dog’s personality and temperament.
“It’s great to see so many people attending our Adoption Days, which we hold every 6-8 weeks at various locations across Victoria.”
However, families that missed out on adopting a greyhound at yesterday’s Adoption Day need not be disheartened, as greyhounds are available for adoption almost every day from our Seymour headquarters and Mornington Peninsula (Baxter) locations.
“By making an appointment to meet our greyhounds at Seymour or Baxter it gives people the chance to meet and interact with greyhounds in a more relaxed setting than an Adoption Day,” Lou added.
