VIDEO: Every Greyhound Has a Story – Aged Care

In 2014, the Greyhound Adoption Program launched a photographic exhibition titled ‘Every Greyhound Has a Story’.

This included images of greyhounds at an aged care facility in Melbourne. Greyhounds are quiet, friendly and cooperative creatures who bring smiles to the faces of countless Victorians in aged care facilities, many of whom are missing the interaction they once had with their own pet that they can no longer live with.

“One of the worst things about coming into any form of aged care is that they can’t take their own dogs with them. The interaction the residents at Alexandra Gardens have with the greyhounds who regularly visit is very soothing and therapeutic,” said Kaye Hargreaves, a regular visitor to Alexandra Gardens aged care facility in Donvale.

A special thank you to volunteers Lyn Pike, Peter McIntyre and Kaye Hargreaves as well as staff and residents at Alexandra Gardens aged care facility in Donvale for assisting in putting this video together. And let’s not forget the stars of the show, greyhounds Razza, Zibbi & Jack.
