No Gimmick…the Mighty Mimicking is up for Adoption

Among the 20 or so greyhounds available at Saturday’s Adoption Day at Sandown Park is former star greyhound, Mimicking (pictured).

It’s rare that greyhounds of his calibre are put up for adoption, but here he is.

Mimicking, who is known away from the racetrack as Solo, was a classy stayer who had 15 wins, 23 seconds and 26 thirds during an outstanding racing career that spanned a massive 118 starts.

He won $135,000 in prize money and is a full younger brother to Nellie Noodles, who until recently held the 725m track record at The Meadows.

A slow beginner with plenty of stamina running through his bloodlines, Mimicking, who was trained by Robert Britton, would often storm home in his races to win or run a place in eye-catching style.

Watch: Mimicking (7) cruises past former champion Xylia Allen to run third in a heat of the 2014 Sandown Cup last May.
